• This book was so helpful!! It was the required textbook for my advanced Spanish grammar and composition class at college, but I would honestly recommend anyone who is trying to learn the Spanish language look into purchasing this book. It went through (I think) every tense in the Spanish language and gave the rules and regulations surrounding them. The further you get into the textbook, the more Spanish it begins to use in its instructions and teaching moments, so if you don't speak any Spanish try a less advanced book first. The textbook also has a different short story in each chapter to aid in your comprehension skills. The stories were only a couple pages long and I found them to be interesting and easy to read. The book provides you with many different activities that you can participate in when you are learning a particular skill set. The way that it applies the new skill set to the practice questions is a great way to make sure that you are understanding exactly what it is that you have learned. Their is also new vocabulary to learn each chapter! Their is a large range of vocabulary and most of the words are words that you will actually need to know someday. As for the book itself, it arrived in perfect condition! There were no marks or tears on the inside that were giveaways to the book being a used textbook. The textbook also arrived right on time. The seller was very responsible and organized. Even after the course is over, I still go back to this textbook to consult when I have questions and to review things. I highly recommend it!
• The book had minimal wear and tear. It was very good condition for a used book. I use this book for an Advanced Grammar Spanish class, and it is a very well-written textbook. There are very good stories written in Spanish with information about the authors or other background information also in Spanish. Some of the vocabulary in these stories is challenging, but there are easy-to-understand definitions in Spanish or English translations for more difficult words in the margin. The grammar concepts are explained in English, which is great, but it includes many examples in Spanish and practice problems to help with vocabulary, grammar, writing, etc. Definitely one of the more helpful Spanish textbooks I've used. Great for people who already have experience learning Spanish and need a deeper understanding of the language and grammar.
• Lots of things about this book are excellent--great exercises, interesting stories. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars if it came with answers. Apparently it is to be used as a textbook, and some universities or high schools don't want the students to know the correct answers. I think not only is this a bad teaching technique, but for an older book in the series, the publisher, Wiley, should offer answer keys online. Modern texts all come with answers. This one should, too, for everyone, not just for professors or teachers. Wake up, Wiley.
• This is a useful aid, the exercises are related to the ones in the book and have suggested answers. It really helps with assignments and understanding
• This is as good a book of its type as one could hope to find. Each chapter has a literary excerpt of some interest with sensible notes and useful questions designed for class room use. There is always plenty of useful vocabulary and then a fairly thorough look at two or through areas of usage of a grammatical nature with ensuing thoughtfully constructed writing exercises. The book is very sound from a pedagogic point of view -based evidently on years of teaching experience. I have looked at many books but this one, for example, satisfactorily explains the difference in usage between ser and estar much better than any other. It's a treasure trove for the advanced learner of Spanish.
• Great book that covers a lot of areas at an advanced level. There is even a website that has additional material to help with you with the study. The only downside is the book does not come with an answer key to the questions and this makes it less useful unless you have an instructor to check your work. I liked the level of difficulty in the book but please add an answer key.

• Had to buy this for a college class. It did not teach me anything, I would only buy this book if it is required of you.
